In-Game Calendar & Day-Night Cycle: Times, Seasons & Schedules
The Heartopia clock governs everything: which fish are biting, when stores open, where NPCs are, and whether the Phoenix Finch shows up at the volcano. Miss a time window and you miss the catch — sometimes for an entire season. This guide lays out the full game calendar, the day-night cycle, and how to plan your sessions around the clock so you’re always in the right place at the right time.
The Day-Night Cycle
Heartopia operates on a compressed 24-minute day (1 real second = 1 in-game minute). A full in-game day passes every 24 real minutes, giving you roughly 60 in-game days per real-world hour.
Time Blocks
| Block | In-Game Time | Real Duration | Key Activities |
|---|---|---|---|
| Dawn | 5:00 AM – 7:00 AM | 2 min | Rare birds (Kingfisher, Golden Phoenix), Golden Salmon fishing window starts |
| Morning | 7:00 AM – 12:00 PM | 5 min | Stores open, farming, most NPCs available, common birds active |
| Afternoon | 12:00 PM – 5:00 PM | 5 min | Bug catching peak, Monarch Butterfly, Rainbow Ibis, Phoenix Finch |
| Evening | 5:00 PM – 8:00 PM | 3 min | Stores closing, NPCs heading home, fireflies begin spawning |
| Night | 8:00 PM – 3:00 AM | 7 min | Nocturnal fishing (Moonlight Swordfish), Atlas Moth, Starlight Eel, Glow Herbs |
| Late Night | 3:00 AM – 5:00 AM | 2 min | Starlight Eel peak, most NPCs asleep, prepare for dawn |
Time Zones Matter
Not all fish, bugs, and birds are available at all hours. Time-gating is one of Heartopia’s core design mechanics. Here’s what opens and closes:
| System | Dawn | Morning | Afternoon | Evening | Night | Late Night |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Fishing | Golden Salmon (Fog) | Common fish active | Common fish active | Transition period | Moonlight Swordfish, Legendary | Starlight Eel |
| Bug Catching | Common butterflies | Common butterflies | Monarch Butterfly | Fireflies start | Atlas Moth, Glowing Firefly | Rainbow Stag Beetle (Rain) |
| Bird Watching | Kingfisher, Golden Phoenix | Blue Jay, Frost Eagle | Rainbow Ibis, Phoenix Finch | Heron (Dusk) | Shadow Raven | — |
| Foraging | Normal | Normal | Normal | Normal | Glow Herbs, Moonpetals | Glow Herbs peak |
| NPCs | Few awake | Most available | Most available | Heading home | Mostly asleep | Asleep |
| Stores | Garden Shop opens (7AM) | All open | All open | Closing (5-8PM) | Closed | Closed |
The Weekly Calendar
Heartopia has a 7-day week. Several activities are locked to specific days — miss them and you wait a full week.
| Day | Special Events |
|---|---|
| Monday | Guild quests reset; Guild Shop inventory rotates |
| Tuesday | Market Day (Bi-weekly — see below) |
| Wednesday | Normal day; good for grinding |

| Saturday | Pet Racing at the Racing Grounds (see Pet Racing Guide); Guild Festival (first Saturday monthly) |

Market Day (Bi-weekly)
Market Day alternates between Tuesday and Thursday. On Market Day, Ka Ching’s prices drop 20% on bulk purchases and a travelling merchant appears in Town Square with rare rotating inventory. See the Market Day & Economy Guide for the full strategy.
Pet Racing Saturday
Every Saturday from 12 PM to 6 PM (in-game), the Racing Grounds open for competitive pet races. Three tracks, leaderboard rankings, and Racing Token shop rewards. Details in the Pet Racing & Competitions Guide.
