The Heartopia Museum is the ultimate long-term goal for collectors. Donating fish, bugs, birds, and fossils not only earns you gold and experience — it unlocks exclusive furniture, outfits, and the prestigious Curator title. This guide covers everything you need to know about building the greatest museum in town.

Museum Overview

The museum is located in the eastern district of Town Square, just past the General Store. It’s an old, dusty building when you first discover it, but as you fill its halls with specimens, it transforms into a vibrant showcase of Heartopia’s biodiversity.

Unlock Requirements

  1. Reach D.G. Guild Level 8 — This triggers a letter in your mailbox from Professor Liora, the museum curator.
  2. Meet Professor Liora — Visit the museum during daytime hours (8 AM – 5 PM). She’ll give you a tour and the Museum Donation Pass.
  3. Complete “First Donation” Quest — Donate any one fish, bug, or bird photo to unlock all four exhibition wings.

Note: You don’t need Level 8 in every hobby to donate. As long as you’ve caught or photographed a specimen, you can contribute it — even if your hobby level is low.

Donation Mechanics

How to Donate

  1. Enter the museum and walk to any wing’s donation desk.
  2. Interact with the desk to open your inventory.
  3. Select a specimen and choose “Donate”.
  4. The item is permanently added to that wing’s display.

First Donation vs Repeat Donation

ActionXP EarnedGold EarnedMuseum Progress
First Donation (new species)50-200 XP1.5x sell price+1 slot filled
Repeat Donation (already donated)5 XP0 GoldNo progress

Golden Rule: Always donate the first of any species to the museum. Sell only duplicates. The XP bonus from a first donation far outweighs the extra gold you’d get from selling it.

Donation Strategy Guide

Priority Order

When deciding what to donate first, follow this priority:

  1. Legendary specimens — Always donate first. They’re hardest to catch and give the most XP.
  2. Rare specimens — Donate first for 100+ XP. Wait for a second catch to sell.
  3. Uncommon specimens — Donate first for 50-80 XP. These spawn frequently enough to replace.
  4. Common specimens — Donate first, but don’t stress. Commons are everywhere.

Seasonal Planning

SeasonFocus WingWhy
SpringInsectarium + AviaryHoneybee, Ladybug, Atlas Moth, Orchid Mantis, Rainbow Butterfly; Robin, Sparrow
SummerAquatic Wing + InsectariumMost fish active; Firefly, Stag Beetle, Rhinoceros Beetle, Golden Beetle
AutumnAviary + Fossil HallMonarch Butterfly, Phoenix Moth; comfortable mining weather
WinterAquatic Wing + Fossil HallCrystal Dace, Moonlight Swordfish; Frost Eagle; cave mining is safer

Daily Museum Routine

  1. Check the Donation Board — The board at the museum entrance shows which specimens you still need per wing.
  2. Plan Your Day — If the weather matches a rare spawn condition, prioritize that hobby.
  3. End-of-Day Donation Run — Before logging off, visit the museum to donate any new catches. This refreshes your progress tracking for the next session.

Pro Tip: The museum donation board updates in real-time after each donation. Use it like a checklist — visit it every morning to plan which specimens to hunt.
